Green Living

As  some of you will know I nominate a charity every year to which I donate a percentage of my profits. This year it is Brigit Strawbridge’s Big Green Idea http://www.thebiggreenidea.org. Brigit and her family were filmed by the BBC a couple of years ago making the move to Cornwall to live a sustainable life. The programme was called It’s not Easy Being Green but Brigit’s latest venture is out to prove that this is simply not the case and that anyone can green up their lifestyle without having to spend a fortune or move from one end of the country to another ………and what’s more it can be fun.

The Bus is currently being fitted out with all sorts of eco features and Brigit is on a mission to raise enough funding to employ a driver and staff and everything else to keep the bus moving around the UK over the next two years. One of the first stops will be Bradford on Avon where it will form the centrepiece of the first Big Bradford Green Fair.

So mark it on your calendars for October 3rd and 4th in and around Barton Farm Park where the whole family will be able to take part in a fun, interactive and  informative green experience. Practical and local advice on everything from  growing your own veg, keeping hens and bees to shopping locally, compost, recycling, green cleaning and skincare as well as greening up your buildings. A mixture of workshops and stalls, loads of activites for families. This is one event where you won’t end up going home with a carrier bag full of leaflets and good intentions only to make no progress except to recycle them into your black box.

Check out the blog every few days for progress details and if you’re feeling generous you can of course make a donation to Brigit’s Bus. (web address above!)
