Feast your eyes on Mike and Andy putting up the awning when the Big Green Bus made it to Fitzmaurice School (despite the drama of an engine fire on the M5). Thanks to all those who gave up time and money with me to support the event and the Big Green Idea. So positive was the response to the Fair that we have decided to make it an annual event and over the coming months I will be working with members of Climate Friendly Bradford and others to prepare for 2009’s offering. If you want to get involved we’d be only too happy to welcome you on board. Just drop me an email cally@countrygate.co.uk Check out www.bradfordonavongreenfair.orguk for full details of this year’s event. I’ll look forward to hearing from anyone who’s made a change to their lifestyle as a result and will be reporting on tree planting in Barton Farm Park and how we get on with our new hens over the next few weeks. To those of you who live in and around Bradford please don’t forget to fill in your Tame the Traffic questionnaires, which have to be submitted by next Friday 24th.
For now I have another exciting project in hand ….but more of that as the weeks unfold.
Here at Country Gate we have been busy despite the slump in the housing market. I accompanied a visit to Carymoor Envirionmental Centre last week and learnt more about low cost ways to improve the energy efficiency of your home and rainwater harvesting. Tomorrow I’m spending two days visiting permaculture projects in Somerset and so I feel well qualified to advise clients who are at last thinking more about long term homes rather than investments and about how they can live more economically and efficiently in their homes.
The weather’s great (at last), I’ve been out in the garden (a lot) and the latest series of River Cottage is on TV…………..isn’t life blissful? Hope you manage to get out this weekend.
Blue skies.
Cally
